A Conversation with Author Richard Rubin About World War One and 'The Last of the Doughboys'

Richard Rubin is the guest on this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. Richard is the author of the great book about World War One, The Last of the Doughboys: The Forgotten Generation and Their Forgotten War.

In the first of this two part conversation, Richard shares his story about tracking down the surviving American veterans of World War One, their insights about life, memories of their time in service some one hundred years ago, what he learned from meeting folks of such advanced age and wisdom, as well as the challenges and rewards of collecting such rare oral histories.

During this week's show, Chauncey discusses the controversy over Larry Wilmore's performance at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, the White Gaze, the "n-word", and the genius of Richard Pryor. Chauncey also demands credit for explaining the rise of Donald Trump, his advice to Trump for winning the White House in November, talks about WWE's Payback event, and is very excited about going to see Captain America: Civil War.
