Working on some things here...but in the meantime my friend Werner Herzog's Bear of the website I Used to be Disgusted, Now I try to be Amused, has come up with something pithy, sharp, and sardonic that deserves some shine. The following is really meme worthy--at least in my humble opinion--so please circulate it widely. A question: What would you add to the list?
Isn't It Ironic That?
Some of the same people who use the political system in this country to impose their religious views of abortion and homosexuality on everyone else in this country are those doing the most fear mongering about the Muslim Brotherhood?
That many so-called "libertarians" who decry national parks and health care reform as "tyranny" maintain support for an authoritarian ruler like Mubarak?
The same people who weep over the loss of "traditional values" are among the loudest cheerleaders for the biggest destroyer of traditional values yet invented: unfettered consumer capitalism.?
That the same people who are constantly spewing paranoid rhetoric about "the government" want to burn Julian Assange at the stake for unmasking the government's lies and hypocrisies when it comes to foreign policy?
Many academics who use their research to defend and praise the disadvantaged have no sympathy whatsoever for the downtrodden adjuncts in their own departments who are criminally underpaid?
The Pope who constantly chides Europeans over their lack of morality covered up horrible crimes by his own clergy?
A man like Rick Perry, who has never been anything in his entire life except for a politician, can make a career out of attacking government.? (Here's an idea Rick: we'll take you up on it and let you give up your wasteful government job.)

Or another:
Some factions of the US left, who prides themselves on being secular and anti-theocratic, either excuse or gloss over Muslim Brotherhood's theocratic policies in places like Gaza and Sudan.
The problem as I see it with these types of constructions is that they may highlight people's hypocrisy, they never actually refute their arguments. Identifying someone's motive for their point of view never really finishes the job, and gives some people the idea they don't have to.
It can be satisfying and it can score points, but it still doesn't take on the real work that in many cases still needs to be done. It's a species of an ad hominem attack ("You're a hypocrite, therefor your conclusion is wrong.")
(Simply amazing folks)

My dear friend Mr DeVega:
If we classify "Secular Progressivism" as a RELIGION in that it attempts to serve the same function - when you repeat your friends indictment - it appears that we must include more people in this indictment.
Secular Progressives are ALSO imposing their view on Same Sex Marriage and Abortion on others.
The greater IRONY though, sir, is that the very same people who see the American CONSERVATIVE as a THREAT in this nation as they point out his bias against Muslims - they are all too silent about the oppression that MUSLIMS OVER SEAS are.

Hey CF - don't they teach how to properly render quotes in non BBCode venues in Christian conservative homeschool? Do they teach ANYTHING in Christian conservative homeschool?
"Secular progressivism" is not a religion. You can tell, because we cannot run around demanding the same special rights your bigoted religious institutions demand.
Disallowing conservative bigots from cramming your filthy lifestyle choice down the collective throat of entire planet -- e.g. missionary work -- neither oppresses you nor imposes anything on you.
And there is nothing all your clung-to guns, bibles, and laws based in 1773 can do to stop it, either.
How about another one:
The dumbasses shrieking the loudest at Blacks about being PARTY OF LINCOLN!!!!!! are also the ones waving the confederate flags.
