The Politics of Popular Culture--Battle: Los Angeles and the Tea Party GOP 2010 Electoral Victory

The trailer for Battle: Los Angeles is an ideal-typical example of the politics of popular culture in the aftermath of the 2010 elections, the rise of the Tea Party New Right, and the failures of the Age of Obama. Consider the following concept for a moment:

Zeitgeist (German pronunciation: [ˈtsaɪtɡaɪst] is "the spirit of the times" or "the spirit of the age." [1] Zeitgeist is the general cultural, intellectual, ethical, spiritual, and/or political climate within a nation or even specific groups, along with the general ambience, morals, sociocultural direction or mood of an era.

Now consider the bullet points from the trailer and what they portend for the future (and near present):

There are patterns that cannot be explained.

There are warnings that cannot be ignored.

In 2011 nothing can prepare you for what's next.

Talk about a pithy summary of the political toilet and metaphorical public urinal now overflowing without disinfectant that brought the United States--us and we--the 2010 Tea Party GOP victory...

Being provocative: So my friends, is Joe Q. Public ready for the hellspawn that many of their brethren's choice in the 2010 Elections will bring upon the polity at this, the nadir of the American empire?

So much for that previous attempt at "respectability".

Here is what I don't understand above all else Mr Chauncey: The NEGROS that fuse their own consciousness and wellbeing to the Democratic Party. Their excitement or depression is closely mapped to the present standing of the PARTY.

Thus, Mr Chauncey - IF THE DEMOCRATS HAD WON on November 2nd:

* Would the news that Black Males have inferior academic proficiency as compared to White males have stung you any less?

* Would the news that Bobby TILLman of Douglasville Georgia received a neo-Emmitt TILL beating, a broken rib from a stomping upon his chest having punctured his heart, been any less of a sign that the STREET PIRATES seek to "Take Their Streets Back" to the days of the wilderness?

There are more zones of "Black suffering" in America that take place in the various "Progressive Mission Accomplished" voting districts that people like you choose not to rally against the establishment machine for their failure THAN there were newly Republican controlled districts where the voters have flipped their loyalties.

WHY do you try to make the plight of the Negro into one of Democrat or Republican?

BWAH HA HA HA! I love watching you guys shift into panic mode! I wanna tell you why much of what you say is dreadfully incorrect but I'll wait because this is entertaining. You Obama supporters simply don't like the Tea Partiers because some of us support gay marriage, pot legalization, and the lifting of DADT.

Dont Tread On Me!

CD, you been trawling Bookerrising for coonservatives, or is this an autopoetic infestation?

Mr KCNulan:

Coon?

How does it feel to be mouthing the very same ignorant word that many a Black man heard just prior to his lynching at the hands of White racists? Their contempt for his skin color and unwillingness to bow down to them managed that he be destroyed.

What is your motivation?

The black garbage pail kids do love coming around. I enjoy their tomfoolery. I can't wait until the tea party birchers put the Black Right conservative supplicants in their rightful places--washing the toilets and floors of their white masters.

But then again, many black conservatives yearn for such a privilege.

"Coonservatives"? "Black Right conservative supplicants"? "White Masters"? "Tomfoolery"?

Gentlemen, the 80s called and they want their cliches back.

Mr DeVega:

Think about what you are arguing. As a Progressive-Fundamentalist YOU struggled so that Black people would be allowed to blossom into a full array of employment opportunities. NOW, due to your ideological hatred for a segment of your "Brothers" - YOU hope out loud that we'd be cast into the toilet stalls? I thought that you work was done for the betterment of ALL NEGROES?

Now we see that for you a "Good Negro" is BOTH a skin color and an ideology.

Here is the deal, Mr DeVega - in the run up to the election I drove around Metro Atlanta, camcorder in hand to document the "Black Vote Harvesting Fields". These are the places with the most entrenched poverty YET with the most abundant "Get The Blacks Out To Vote For The Democrats" signage.

Here is what bothered me the most, Mr DeVega. Some of these politicians knew their constituents and their desperation so well that when they planted a sign into the yard of an abandoned house or empty lot - THEY DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO TEND TO THE IMMEDIATE SURROUNDINGS.

Mr DeVega - wouldn't it be a symbolic show of support for the community to have the "sign man" be equipped with a Weedeater, Trash bags and some brooms? The would be leader mandating that NO SIGN shall be placed in an unkempt plot. Mandating that a 5 x 5 clearing be maintained as a SYMBOL of his/her care for the people.

Instead what I saw was a big VOTE HARVESTING area. After years of lies and promises - there is NO NET PRODUCTIVITY GAIN to be seen as the MACHINE has switched from WHITE to PROGRESSIVES of various colors.

What do you have to say for yourself Mr DeVega (and KCNulan)?

Is what you are doing REALLY leading to PROGRESS? If so - for whom?

@Al--I love antagonizing those black conservatives who fit that model. You are of course excluded given your confessions in The Church of James Brown.

@Constructive--I don't engage you on these points because you are blogging by proxy. Ask a few simple questions and you may get a response. Moreover, you clearly don't get my politics. If you did, perhaps we would find much to agree upon. Read some more of what I have written before you play your "progressive" card.

With all due respect, Mr DeVega:

Tim Wise is my CANARY IN THE COAL MINE TEST.

Any CONSCIOUS Black person who doesn't hear the VOID in his message ("What Should Black People Do") and are lulled with his focus on telling Black people what White folks say when they are not around CLEARLY needs some counseling on how to look at TEETH that are shown to you per the Fox that sits with you and understand if they are FRIEND or FOE.
