Monday Randomness: Hallelujah in the Time of the Great Recession? Which Version Do You Prefer? Leonard Cohen? Bob Dylan? Neil Diamond?
Some random breaking of blogging kayfabe after a New England Patriots loss as a source for some solace and peace because the boundaries of blackness know no limits.
Is there a meaning within a meaning to my question about the song Hallelujah? Is this writing simply a well-timed coincidence to my earlier post on brother Bruce Lee? Or is it simple self-indulgence? Is this just a well-timed sentence that is an entry point into some more Oscar Wilde Merovingian wordplay of the sort that I love to indulge on We Are Respectable Negroes?
Like so many, NPR plays on in the background while I work. This week they had a great twofer--Buika, the most liberated woman in the world, and Neil Diamond, discussing his new album, Dreams. I will be purchasing the former as an addition to my taking the ladies to space mountain soundtrack for the bedroom. Quite frankly, I don't know what the hell Buika is saying when her crooning is not in the King's English, but it sounds might sexy and encouraging to the gonads. Especially when the Lingam is swollen.
The latter has some punch. It really does. But, I don't know if I will be able to keep my respectable negro bonafides if I use my Border's bucks and a coupon to buy a Neil Diamond album in person. Just being real.
Lot's to come this week. But in this time of The Great Recession and following an ugly election last Tuesday, what, if anything, are you singing hallelujah for? And whose version of that classic song do you prefer? Dylan's? Cohen's? Or Diamond's?

Very blog-like, Professor, and, as usual, admirable. To your question, however, I will only say that I find it difficult and somehow inappropriate to order the accomplishments of the actually talented.
Buy the album. If the salesperson is black, claim that it's a gift. It's Christmas/Haunnakah/Kwanzaa/Diwali, you can get away with it.
Leonard Cohen's.
I definitely have to go with Cohen's, since he OWNS the song (literally, since he wrote it). I saw him sing it live about a year ago, and it was so very lovely.
